Hello, I’m lostyesterday on AO3. Thank you so much for writing for me! This letter includes my general likes and some thoughts/prompts for everything I’ve requested. If you have a different idea unrelated to any of these prompts, please write it – I’m excited to read whatever you create!

General Likes

• Canon divergence AUs
• Worldbuilding (especially regarding fictional cultural practices, politics, etc.)
• Humor, hijinks, characters participating (willingly or unwillingly) in ridiculous shenanigans
• Action/adventure, mission/casefic, other types of plot-heavy stories
• Slice of life, small moments in time
• Hurt/comfort (physical or emotional)
• Time travel, time loops, temporal and spatial distortions – anything where time and space get weird
• Any type of stranded-in-an-enclosed/remote-place story (especially if it forces characters to confront aspects of themselves or their relationship with others)

Andor

Cinta/Vel:

• I love the bits of their relationship we got in canon – the tensions and disagreements between them and the way they love each other so much anyway. I’d enjoy a wide range of stories for them, from something soft and sweet to something messier and more complicated.
• These two spend a lot of time apart in canon because of their work for the rebellion, making their in-person meetings feel sometimes like stolen moments. I think this would make letters or other correspondence between them especially interesting when they might be the only form of communication they have for long periods of time and even that might be sporadic. What do they write to each other and what’s left unsaid?
• I’d also be interested in seeing what either of these characters would write about the other if they didn’t plan for the other to read it. Maybe one of them keeps a journal and writes about their relationship. I like exes to lovers stories for these two, so I think it could also be interesting to see their written reflections if they’ve broken up but want to get back together.

Cinta/Kleya:

• There are a lot of different interpretations of this ship I’d be interested in, either involving Vel in some way or not. Maybe Cinta gets together with Kleya after breaking up with Vel. Cinta and Kleya have a lot in common, more than either does with Vel arguably, and I think this could raise some interesting tensions. I like Cinta/Kleya/Vel as a poly ship too, in any configuration. Not involving Vel, I think Cinta and Kleya could also have a very sweet relationship where they eventually let down their walls and feel deeply understood by each other.
• I’d love to see Cinta and Kleya exchange messages or letters that are initially about rebellion business, but gradually become more personal and charged. Since both these characters are so intensely focused on the rebellion, it would be interesting to see how they might develop a relationship through it.
• I also think there’s interesting potential with Kleya’s radio. Maybe they communicate by radio daily over many months while Cinta’s out on a mission somewhere and grow closer. Or maybe they’re already in a relationship and their brief time on the radio is the only time they have together.

The Lord of the Rings

Éowyn/Faramir:

• I really enjoy the foundation of a relationship these two build in Return of the King, and how they bond through their shared trauma and their desire for genuine connection. I imagine that after getting married, they still frequently spend time apart to travel to each of their homes to visit family and friends, and maybe they write letters to each other while they’re apart. Maybe one or both of them gets up to some adventures and writes to the other about them, or maybe they just describe everyday life or something they saw that they found beautiful.
• I’d also love to see letters from either Éowyn or Faramir written to another character (maybe Aragorn or one of the hobbits?) describing their relationship and the life they build together.
• Given Faramir’s scholarly inclinations, it would also be interesting if he wrote an account of his life. I’d love to read what he writes about meeting Éowyn, any of the many conversations they had off-page in the Houses of Healing, or any adventures they might have gone on post-canon.

Éowyn & Merry:

• I think these two would keep in contact after everything they went through together, maybe writing each other letters about their lives and reminiscing about the past.
• Presumably Merry also visits Éowyn sometimes, so I’d also love a letter written by Merry and sent back to the Shire (maybe to Pippin or Sam), talking about his visit. I love the idea of Merry and Éowyn having some post-canon adventures together.
• I also love the idea of Éowyn going to visit the Shire at some point and maybe writing a letter to someone back home across the mountains (maybe Faramir or Éomer). What would Éowyn think of Merry’s home?

The Murderbot Diaries

Murderbot & Mensah:

• I adore Murderbot and Mensah’s relationship and always want more of it. The love they have for each other, the deep devotion and inexplicable connection that doesn’t make sense to anyone else – it’s all perfect.
• I’d love to see Mensah write a letter to Murderbot after the events of All Systems Red. Maybe she sends the letter to it or maybe she doesn’t. Either way, I’d love to see some exploration of the complexities of how she felt after it left.
• Since the series itself is sort of a set of Murderbot’s journals, anything canon-typical written by Murderbot about Mensah and its relationship with her would be welcome. It would also be super interesting to see the reverse – Mensah writing a journal about Murderbot. Or maybe Mensah writes a letter to her marital partners trying to explain her relationship with Murderbot.
• I’d also love to see a story told through Murderbot and Mensah’s feed conversations – either something plotty where the two of them are giving each other real-time updates of what’s going on over the feed, or just a mundane day where they’re chatting to avoid boredom.

Murderbot & Ratthi:

• I love their bestfriendship. I love how Ratthi is someone Murderbot can easily call its friend and is genuinely comfortable with. I love how much Ratthi trusts it and respects its unique ways of communicating and relating.
• I really like the idea of these two having frequent text conversations over the feed – about media or about something silly someone else said or anything else.
• I’d also love to see Ratthi write something about his perceptions of his relationship with Murderbot, either in a letter to Murderbot itself, a letter to someone else, or some sort of journal entry.

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

Sisko/Kasidy:

• Their canon relationship is so good, and I always want more of these two. They canonically spend a lot of time apart since Kasidy’s job means she’s out on cargo runs frequently. I’d love to read letters they send each other during any of those times, updating each other on their daily lives or talking about their respective crews (I’m super interested in details about Kasidy’s crew).
• I’d also love to see Ben record a personal log about Kasidy and his relationship with her. Or maybe a log or other kind of journal entry from Kasidy talking about Ben – maybe about what it means for her relationship with him that she’s helping the Maquis. Complicated feelings between them regarding either that or what it means for Ben to be the Bajoran emissary are welcome.

Kira/Jadzia:

• I love how these two are such good friends, and I always enjoy ship fic that emphasizes how much they get along despite coming from such different backgrounds and being such different people. Anything focusing on Trill and/or Bajoran culture is always great too.
• It would be fun to have a getting together story told through a comm conversation. Maybe they’re both in their quarters late in the day and one of them calls to ask about something and then they just end up talking for a while and something sparks.
• Maybe Kira is finally convinced to take a several-week-long vacation on Bajor after being extremely reluctant to leave work behind for any time at all, so Jadzia sends her a letter while she’s gone to catch her up on the latest gossip and happenings aboard DS9. I could see this as an established relationship fic.

Jake/Nog, Jake & Nog:

• Their relationship is wonderful whether platonic, romantic, or some nebulous third thing neither of them knows how to define. I love humor for these two, but I also love exploring tensions and disagreements between them and seeing them have difficulty with each other while loving each other deeply all the while.
• I’d love to see letters exchanged between them while Nog is away at Starfleet Academy. Maybe they tell each other about their lives and adventures they had without the other present.
• Since Jake’s a writer, it would be fun to see him write a profile of Nog for some reason – maybe as character study practice. How does Jake see Nog as a person, and how would he express that in writing?
• I’d also love to see a story told in text or audio messages between these two. Maybe they get up to some canon-typical hijinks but are separated for some reason and have to communicate through comms or written messages about what’s happening.

Jake & Nog & Ziyal:

• These three could have such an interesting dynamic! I think Ziyal would bring so many interesting elements to Jake and Nog’s relationship, and the contrast between their three different backgrounds is interesting.
• A story told through text or comm messages between these three like I mentioned for Jake and Nog above would be a lot of fun, especially if it involved ridiculous hijinks. Generally, I’d love if these three had some kind of group chat. Maybe PADDs can send messages to each other over a short range, so they’re always messaging each other about what they’re up to or about the latest station gossip.

Star Trek: The Next Generation

Guinan/Ro:

• I love their canon dynamic so much! They both have a lot of trauma from their pasts, and I love exploration of that and how they relate to each other through it, and I also like how Guinan seems to understand Ro in a way most people don’t. There are two main periods in canon where I think correspondence between them would make a lot of sense and be interesting: the time after Ro leaves Enterprise but before she joins the Maquis, and the time when she’s part of the Maquis.
• For the time right after Ro first leaves Enterprise, I’d love to see her and Guinan exchange letters about how Ro is doing trying to settle herself back into Starfleet and any struggles she might be having. Maybe they’re already together and have a long-distance relationship.
• After Ro joins the Maquis, communication between them would be difficult. Maybe Ro sends a letter to Guinan she knows Guinan can’t respond to. Maybe Guinan writes a letter she never sends. There’s a lot that’s interesting to explore here. Does Guinan feel in any way betrayed by Ro and does she understand why she made the decision she did? Does Ro regret leaving Guinan behind? I’m very fine with stories where they break up and don’t definitively get back together, but I’d prefer there to be lingering fondness and feelings between them. 

Star Trek: Voyager

Seven/B’Elanna:

• I love these two so much. I equally enjoy sweet takes on their relationship where they come to a place of mutual acceptance and understanding, or messier takes where they struggle with each other and yet are drawn together anyway. Any stage of relationship between them would be great – feelings realization, getting together, established relationship, casual secret relationship, or anything else.
• I’d love to see either or both of these two recording personal logs about each other, maybe in an attempt to stop arguing so much and get along. It would be fun if their assumptions about what the other thinks of them were wildly wrong.
• Post-canon correspondence between them after they’ve gotten back to the Alpha Quadrant would be interesting too. I love when both these characters struggle with what it means to be “home” when it never was home in the same way it was for so many others on the Voyager crew, and it would be really interesting to see them potentially bonding over that from afar.

Seven & Naomi:

• I really love their friendship. I’d love something with them post-canon, with the two of them maintaining their friendship as Naomi grows up. Maybe they exchange letters when they get back to the Alpha Quadrant updating each other on their lives and talking about their difficulties adjusting to a home they don’t remember.
• Voyager sometimes mentions Naomi writing school reports about various things. I think it would be interesting if she wrote a report about Seven for an assignment. How would Naomi describe Seven and her relationship with her?

Janeway & Tuvok:

• I’m super interested in their pre-canon relationship, since they’re clearly already close before the beginning of Voyager. Anything exploring their early friendship would be great. Or maybe Tuvok sends Janeway a secret letter pre-canon while he’s undercover with the Maquis.
• I’m also interested in their relationship post-canon. Maybe Tuvok spends a while back on Vulcan with his family after they get back, and he and Janeway exchange letters about their experiences being back in the Alpha Quadrant.
• Stories told through personal logs or captain’s/security officer’s logs would be great too. Maybe either Janeway or Tuvok is missing/possibly dead and the other is leading the search for them and reporting everything in their logs, including their personal reactions to the situation.
