Dear Spacer (Space Swap 2026)
Feb. 7th, 2026 10:47 amHello, I’m lostyesterday on AO3. Thank you so much for writing for me! This letter includes my general likes and some thoughts/prompts for everything I’ve requested. If you have a different idea unrelated to any of these prompts, please write it – I’m excited to read whatever you create!
Andor
Kleya: Kleya is such a fascinating character, and I’d love exploration of any point in her life. I’d love to see her go on a rebel mission with or without Luthen pre-canon or at some point during the show’s timeline, or anything relating to her radio. For post-canon, I’m interested in how she integrates with the rest of the Rebellion at Yavin. What difficulties does she have in trusting and being trusted after working in isolation for so long? I’d love to see her relationship with any other members of the Rebellion she might meet (feel free to include rebel characters from Rogue One, the Original Trilogy, or the Rebels TV show if you want).
Cinta/Vel: I love the bits of their relationship we got in canon – the tensions and disagreements between them and the way they love each other so much anyway. Their contrasting backstories and the way that informs their different perspectives on the empire and the rebellion and the way this affects their relationship is all very interesting to me. I’d enjoy a wide range of stories for them, from something soft and gentle to something messier and more complicated. If you want to go the messier route, I’d be interested in stories where they break up and meet again as exes who haven’t lost their feelings for each other. If you want to go the softer route, I’d also love a story of them being happy together. Anything set before canon when they first met or about some random mission they’ve been on would be great. Or maybe a story where one of them gets hurt and the other has to take care of them.
Mensah: I love Mensah and think there should be more fic focused on her. What was her job as head of the Preservation council like? I’d love to see a day in her life at work pre-canon, either with something dramatic happening on the council, or just a regular day. Anything focused on her relationship with any of her family members would be very interesting as well.
Murderbot & Mensah: I adore Murderbot and Mensah’s relationship and always want more of it. The love they have for each other, the deep devotion and inexplicable connection that doesn’t make sense to anyone else – it’s all perfect. I love slice of life stories for them, just the two of them hanging out or having a random conversation. Canon scenes from Mensah’s POV are also always good. I love seeing how Mensah views Murderbot and how that differs from how Murderbot views itself. If you want to write something plottier, I love actiony stories for them (fighting, escaping/hiding from danger etc.).
Murderbot & Ratthi: I love their bestfriendship. I love how Ratthi is someone Murderbot can easily call its friend and is genuinely comfortable with. I love how much Ratthi trusts it and respects its unique ways of communicating and relating. I love slice of life fics of the two of them hanging out, or Ratthi’s POV on any canon events. Fugitive Telemetry also made me think it would be fun to see them as a mystery-solving duo – Murderbot as the detective and Ratthi as the enthusiastic and helpful sidekick.
Murderbot & Three: I love how different these two are from each other and how they struggle to relate to and understand each other despite both being SecUnits. I like awkward conversations between them, and circumstances forcing them to interact with each other in ways they aren’t comfortable with. Any situation where either of them protects or defends the other is also excellent, and any type of canon-typical actiony plot would be fun.
Ratthi & Three: Ratthi feels like an ideal friend for Three in a lot of ways, and I’d love anything about Ratthi exploring how best to deal with Three’s whole uncomfortable relationship with personhood. It would be great to see Ratthi and Three doing any sort of recreational activity together, or maybe talking about biology (it would be fun if Three took an interest in biology). I’m also interested in the idea of Three coming to live with Ratthi on Preservation for a while.
Preservation Alliance culture and history: I find Preservation to be such a fun and interesting setting. I’m interested in all of it – the planets, the space station, the ships, and the people. I’d love a story following earlier generations of characters founding Preservation Alliance, and I’d also love a story exploring what life in Preservation is like at the time of the series. If you want to write some sort of in-universe text about any aspect of Preservation culture/history I’d love that too – academic articles, textbooks, tourism information, biographies or memoirs, or anything else text-based.
Kira: I adore Kira so much! I’d love any story delving into her history with the Bajoran resistance – missions she might have gone on or conversations she might have had with other resistance members. I’m also super interested in her feelings about her relationship with violence and power, and what it means for her to go from being a resistance fighter to working for the government.
Sisko: Sisko is such a compelling character. I’d love a character study relating to his complex feelings about Starfleet or his relationship with grief. Any exploration of his childhood and growing up with his family or his time in Starfleet before Jennifer’s death would be great as well.
Kasidy: I love Kasidy and always wished she got more focus in the show. I’d love any exploration of what her life outside of DS9 might be like, including her past before she appears in canon and her relationship with her family. I’d also love a story exploring how she became a freighter captain, what her relationship with her crew is like, or what motivated her to help the Maquis.
Kira/Jadzia: I love any kind of friends-to-lovers story with these two, especially if it emphasizes how much they get along despite coming from such different backgrounds and being such different people. Anything focusing on Trill and/or Bajoran culture is always great. I’d be interested in AUs where Jadzia decides to pursue Kira instead of Worf, especially if it involved some hilarious hijinks. Holodeck dates either based on the canon holodeck programs they’ve done or something new would be fun, and I’d love to see a classic stranded on a planet and huddling for warmth story with them.
Sisko/Kasidy: Their canon relationship is so good. Any scene of them just hanging out together would be amazing. I’d also love to see either of them meeting each other’s families, and it would be interesting for Sisko to spend some time on Kasidy’s ship and meet her crew. I’d also love an angstier story where they struggle with what Sisko being the emissary means for their relationship.
Sisko & Kira: I love the complex progression of their relationship from antagonistic to awkward to close. Any stage of their dynamic would be very welcome. Missionfic is especially fun for them and I love seeing them work together, but I also just love small moments of them interacting and connecting. I’d love to see them bonding over their mutual annoyance at having to deal with some sort of messy diplomatic situation. I’d also love to see them in any situation that forces them to confront the complexity of Kira’s feelings about Sisko as a major figure in her religion.
Sisko & Jadzia: I love their powerful friendship that lasts across lifetimes. I love when they joke around with each other, but I also love their moments of intense seriousness and the philosophical back and forth they sometimes get into. It would be fun to see more exploration of their early-seasons relationship – how do Sisko and Dax get reacquainted with each other now that Dax is Jadzia? Any details about Dax’s past hosts, Jadzia’s past before she was joined, and Sisko’s previous relationship with Dax would be super interesting too. It could also be fun to see them in an AU where Jadzia ends up as Sisko’s first officer on a Starfleet ship.
Sisko & Jake: The father and son dynamic of all time. I’d love any pre-canon stories about the two of them, either when Jake was a little kid, or dealing with their grief after Jennifer’s death. What were their lives like before the show? Any involvement of Jennifer or of Ben’s family would be welcome. Alternatively, I’d love a story about Ben and Jake’s feelings on Jake growing up over the course of DS9. I love that we get to see Jake grow up over the show, and the way canon reflects on that is super interesting to me.
Kasidy Yates’s ship The Xhosa: I’m fascinated by what life on a freighter is like, and canon provided only a few details, so there are lots of directions you could go with this. Stories following members of Kasidy’s crew and what their daily lives are like or the adventures they might get up to would be super fun. I think it’s interesting that every crew member we see in canon aside from Kasidy is not human – what’s it like to live and work on a ship with so many different species? I’d also be interested in exploring how Kasidy’s crew ended up working with the Maquis and what the motivations of the various crew members were.
Early Bajoran space travel: I love the episode Explorers and think the details there about early Bajoran space travel are so fascinating. Stories exploring the lives and journeys of those early Bajorans would be super interesting. I’d also love any kind of in-universe text exploring this – academic articles, memoirs, or anything else that fits. Major DS9 characters (especially Sisko, Jake, Kira, or other Bajorans) reacting to these stories would be interesting as well.
The Orbs of the Prophets: I always wished there were more details about the Orbs in the show because they’re so interesting. We know there are meant to be nine, but we only ever learn about a few of them, and those seem to show visions or allow time travel. Any story exploring what the other Orbs might do would be really fun. I’d also be interested in any stories exploring how the Orbs influenced Bajoran history and religion. As with above, I’d also love in-universe texts talking about the different Orbs, including Bajoran religious texts.
Hoshi: I love Hoshi so much! Any exploration of her love of language or of her meeting aliens and learning about them would be welcome. Maybe she ends up stranded on a planet and has to figure out how to communicate with the aliens there. I’m also fascinated by the loneliness of her character and would love any development of that, either during the show or pre-canon.
Travis: Travis is a character I wish had gotten to take center stage so much more often in canon. I’m super interested in his past – what his relationship with his family was like and how it was to grow up as a “space boomer”. Any canon-typical story set on Enterprise where Travis gets to take center stage and be the hero would be very welcome too.
Hoshi/T’Pol: I love their dynamic in season 1 where Hoshi seemed to be the human who understood T’Pol best and T’Pol helped Hoshi with her anxiety. I see them as two characters who have a lot in common but are also different in some important ways, and because of the way they are, have difficulty admitting to and accepting true connection with other people. I enjoy interpretations of their relationship that are a bit messy or ambiguous. Maybe they’re sleeping together as an “experiment” in alien relationships and are both pretending very hard not to have feelings about it. Maybe they’re in a mutual yearning situation where neither will admit it. I’d be happy with a resolution where they actually get together and admit their feelings, or a more open ending where things remain unresolved between them. But I’d also enjoy a simpler, unambiguous take on their relationship where they openly love and appreciate each other. For plot ideas, it would be fun to see them working together to solve some sort of alien culture-related mystery.
Hoshi/Travis, Hoshi & Travis: I always wanted more of them interacting in canon. I’d be equally interested in these two as a romantic or platonic relationship, or something nebulous and in between if you want. I’d love to see them being besties (whether they’re dating or not), having b-plot type shenanigans, or talking about their lives with each other. It would also be fun to see either of them teaching the other a little of their specialty – Hoshi teaching Travis an alien language or Travis teaching Hoshi the basics of flying a shuttle. I’d love to see them take center stage in a plottier story too, maybe going on an away mission together.
Travis Mayweather’s family’s ship The Horizon: I am absolutely fascinated by what the lives of “space boomers” like Travis might have been like at this time in the Star Trek universe, and what it would have been like to live and work aboard a freighter. There’s so little detail in canon about what seems to me to be an absolutely fascinating part of the history of human space travel in Star Trek, and exploring it through the lives of the crew of Travis’s family’s ship has such potential. I’d be super interested in the culture that’s developed aboard, or physical details of the ship itself. Stories following the adventures of the crew either before or after Travis leaves would also be super fun.
B’Elanna: B’Elanna is one of my all-time favorite characters. Stories exploring any part of her past with the Maquis or at Starfleet Academy or some other time would be welcome. I also love seeing her do engineering work under tense and desperate circumstances – keeping Voyager in one piece during a desperate battle, building makeshift systems to replace vital systems that have failed, etc.
Seven: Seven my beloved! I’d love to see exploration of Seven’s changing thoughts on the Borg and on morality over the course of her Voyager arc, from her positive views of the Borg shortly after leaving the collective to her later very negative perspective on the Borg. Any story where she has to deal with isolation (like being stranded somewhere alone) is also very, very welcome.
Seven/B’Elanna: I love them! I’d equally enjoy a sweet take on their relationship where they come to a place of mutual acceptance and understanding, or a messier take where they struggle with each other and yet are drawn together anyway. Any stressful/dramatic situation that forces them to confront their feelings for each other is always welcome. I love stories that emphasize the parallels between them – their struggles with their identities, their relationship with their humanity and their alienness, their lack of feeling true belonging (“outcasts together”). I also love humorous takes on their relationship – their arguments are so ridiculous sometimes and it’s a lot of fun. Story ideas: the two of them are forced to work together on some type of project after having a massive argument, B’Elanna is injured and Seven has to take care of her – neither is thrilled about this.
Kes/Seven, Kes & Seven: I think these two could have had such a fun dynamic, whether platonic or romantic. Any AU where Kes stays on Voyager after Seven comes onboard would be great. They’re very different from each other, but they have some commonalities in terms of their unusual perspectives on life. I think they’d be drawn to each other’s openness and honesty. I’d love to see these two developing a relationship where they both encourage each other’s weirdness, and Kes defends Seven’s autonomy to the rest of the crew the way she did with the Doctor. Plot ideas: Seven and Kes attempt to host a party together for the entire crew, the two of them accidentally shrink themselves down to a tiny size and have to figure out how to fix it.
Harry & B’Elanna: Their friendship is so important to me. I love how B’Elanna affectionately calls Harry “Starfleet” in early seasons, and how quickly and deeply they come to trust and rely on each other despite seemingly coming from opposite perspectives and places in life. I’d love to see anything with the two of them supporting each other through stressful situations or just hanging out in the mess hall. Anything about them solving engineering problems together, building something, or otherwise working together would also be great.
Seven & Tuvok: Their dynamic is so fun. I’d love any story about Seven coming to Tuvok for advice about dealing with something she doesn’t understand about humans, or maybe the two of them being forced into some sort of tedious social situation and being mutually grumpy about it. I also think they’re a really fun pair to see go on away missions or have various other adventures.
Kes & Tuvok: I love how much they mean to each other. Canon explored Tuvok helping Kes learn about her telepathic abilities, but it would be interesting to see that expanded on, maybe in an AU where Kes doesn’t leave Voyager. I’d also love to see them going on adventures to alien planets together. In general, I really love the respect the two of them have for each other, and the way their different flavors of telepathic abilities interact.
Hobbies and other off-duty activities aboard Voyager: I love in the show whenever we see characters doing hobbies or hanging out together, or doing anything else off-duty. We see the crew playing lots of Holodeck programs, doing sports, having parties – there’s even a mention in one episode of a talent show. Focusing on any canon off-duty activities or something non-canon you think the crew or individual crew members might have gotten up to would be super interesting. What is leisure like when you’ve lived and worked on the same ship for years? What sorts of group/community activities develop? Where do crew members go and what do they do when they want to be alone? Feel free to focus on any crew members, including random background extras/original characters.
