Hello, I’m lostyesterday on AO3. Thank you so much for writing for me! This letter includes my general likes and some thoughts/prompts for everything I’ve requested. If you have a different idea unrelated to any of these prompts, please write it – I’m excited to read whatever you create!

General Likes

Canon divergence AUs
Worldbuilding (especially regarding fictional cultural practices, politics, etc.)
Action/adventure, mission/casefic, other types of plot-heavy stories
Unusual formats and styles (for example epistolary or anything nonlinear, first and second person POV are both great too)
Slice of life, small moments in time
Hurt/comfort (physical or emotional)
Humor, hijinks, characters participating (willingly or unwillingly) in ridiculous shenanigans

Mad Max: Fury Road

Solo Toast the Knowing:

What I find most intriguing about Toast is how clearly different her past was from that of the other wives. She obviously has more experience with guns and cars than the others, and she seems to have a lot of tactical and political knowledge. Who was she before Immortan Joe took her, and what was her life like?
I’d also love to see anything about her POV on canon events. How does she see the other wives or any of the other characters in Fury Road? How does she feel about leaving the Citadel? How does she feel about returning and about trying to build a new Citadel after Immortan Joe’s fall?

Solo The Splendid Angharad:

I’m really interested in the ways the other wives look to Angharad for leadership and strength. She clearly has strong beliefs about the world – about society, power, violence, gender, and lots of other things. She’s a revolutionary thinker who seems to have inspired the other wives to escape Immortan Joe, but she’s also clearly incredibly overwhelmed by the danger and uncertainty of the world outside the Citadel. I’m interested in anything that explores that tension, or anything exploring her past and how she came to hold the beliefs she does.
Any AU where she survives Fury Road would be amazing too. I’d love to see what she makes of the post-canon world, and how she feels when her hopeful revolutionary ideas come face to face with the complexities of reality.

Solo Miss Giddy:

Miss Giddy is such an intriguing character despite her brief screentime. I’d love to see development of any kind of backstory for her. What was her life like when she was young? How did she end up with the position she has in Fury Road?
I’d also love exploration of what her relationship with any of the wives might have been like. She was their teacher and obviously a major influence on all of them. I’d love to see her telling them about the world before or having philosophical discussions with them.
For post-canon, I’d be very interested in stories where she survives. What role does she play in helping Furiosa and the wives change life in the Citadel?

Furiosa/Toast:

I see Toast as potentially having the most in common with Furiosa of all the wives given what can be pieced together about her backstory. If Toast was stolen from her people the way Furiosa was, they have a lot in common, but their lives obviously eventually took very different trajectories.
I’d love any exploration of a relationship between them built on mutual respect and valuing of each other’s skills, even if that respect might take some time to build. I could see Toast becoming Furiosa’s second in command post-canon and the two of them growing closer as they try to make a new Citadel and manage the complicated political situation in the aftermath of Fury Road.

Angharad/Furiosa:

I see both of these two as rebels and leaders, but in different ways. I think they would disagree with each other a lot – for example, the brief indication in Fury Road that Angharad has a pacifist/non-violent philosophy that might clash with Furiosa’s experience and beliefs about the world.
I’d love anything exploring their first meeting, or how their first impressions of each other compare with how they see each other as time goes on.
It would be interesting if they were in a secret relationship pre-canon, or if one or both of them harbored feelings for the other but they never got the chance to act on them. Exploration of Furiosa’s reaction to Angharad’s death in either situation would be welcome, as would any AU where Angharad survived.

Cheedo/The Dag:

I’m very intrigued by the contrast between their personalities, and I’d love to see them have some kind of relationship. I think they’d bring out the best in each other – the Dag bringing out Cheedo’s bravery and Cheedo bringing out the Dag’s gentleness.
Any pre-canon stories would be great – stolen moments, whispered secrets in the dark, holding and caring for each other. I’d also love to see anything during or post-canon.
I’d love getting together stories for these two – maybe where they’ve both been secretly pining for the other but believed the other wasn’t interested. Maybe the events of Fury Road finally lead them to admit their feelings to each other.

Angharad & Capable & Cheedo & The Dag & Toast:

I love all of the wives and how physically close and affectionate they are with each other. I’m very interested in the bonds that form between these characters who’ve lived in such close proximity to each other under such horrible circumstances.
There’s a lot that’s interesting to explore about each of these characters: the Dag’s fierceness and equally fierce kindness, Toast’s intelligence and competence and quick thinking under pressure, Cheedo’s uncertainty and fear of the unknown with a deep courage lying underneath, Capable’s passionate protection of those she cares about and empathy for the suffering of others, Angharad’s leadership of the others and her philosophical ideas about power and violence and so many other aspects of the world. How do these characters see each other? How do their close relationships help them survive and see beauty in the world?
For stories involving Angharad, exploring the others’ grief over her death are welcome, especially if interspersed with memories of Angharad and their time together. AUs where Angharad survives would be welcome too. It could be interesting if the others believe she died but she in fact survived.

The Dag & Keeper of the Seeds:

Their friendship is so sweet and I’d love more of them. Any missing scene conversations between them (about the world before, their pasts, the Green Place, the seeds – anything) or any other interactions between them that could have happened during canon would be great.
Focus on how the Dag feels about the Keeper’s death is very welcome. If you want to go canon divergence and have the Keeper survive, it would also be interesting to see them interact post-canon, and maybe see the Keeper’s reaction to her seeds sprouting for the first time.

Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind

Solo Nausicaä:

I love Nausicaä’s approach to life and her love of all creatures, and how she changes the people around her and shapes the world through her kindness. I’d be interested in stories about any part of her life – before, during or after the movie.
For pre-canon, I’d love anything that involves some worldbuilding for the Valley of the Wind, and any exploration of how the place and culture in which Nausicaä grew up shaped who she became. What is the Valley of the Wind’s government like and what is Nausicaä’s role in it? What kind of significance do möwe/gliders have and how did Nausicaä first learn to fly them? How does living with the constant knowledge of the looming toxic jungle affect their society?
Any stories about Nausicaä having adventures in the toxic jungle would be amazing too, either more science-based where she learns new things about the plants and insects or more survival/action based.
Post-canon, I’d be interested in how Nausicaä and the others work to rebuild after so much destruction.
I’d also be very interested in stories exploring darker emotions Nausicaä might feel – sadness, anger, loneliness, trauma, etc. – at any point before, during, or after canon. As long as she retains a fundamental core of kindness and love, feel very free to take her character to darker places than the movie did.

Piranesi

Solo Piranesi, Piranesi & the House:

I love Piranesi and I’d love a story with him set at any time pre-canon, during canon, or post-canon. Random exploration of rooms in the House, ruminations on or conversations with particular statues, or anything else.
Post-canon, I’d be interested in stories about Piranesi (or whatever he chooses to call himself in the future) adjusting to life in the regular world.
I also love the idea of seeing the House’s perspective on Piranesi, whatever that may be. I think it’s really interesting to consider the House as sentient and deeply attached to Piranesi – either in a genuinely well-meaning way or in a way that’s more possessive and creepy (though I’d prefer if the House cared about Piranesi in some way and didn’t have outright evil intentions toward him).

Solo Raphael, Raphael & the House:

I’d love anything focused on what Raphael’s life was like pre-canon. What sort of adventures did she get up to? I’m fascinated by how much of an outsider she seems to be – not really able to connect with most people and seeming to feel apart from much of the world.
Any time during canon or post-canon, I’d also be very curious to see Raphael’s exploration of the House from either her perspective or the House’s. What does she think of the House? What does the House think of her? It would be interesting if she kept her own journal of events.

Piranesi & Raphael:

I love the conversations these two have. How does their friendship develop post-canon? I’d love to see philosophical discussions between them, or just time they spend in meaningful silence watching something beautiful together.
I’d also be interested in a story where Raphael is the one trapped in the House losing or having lost her memories of who she was before, and Piranesi is the one to come find her. This could be interesting either post-canon or as a canon divergence AU of some kind.
