Hello, I’m lostyesterday on AO3. Thank you so much for writing for me! This letter includes my DNWs and likes, as well as some specific thoughts/prompts for each of the relationships/characters I’ve requested. If you have a different idea unrelated to these prompts, please feel free to write it – I’m excited to read whatever you create!

 

General Likes

• Worldbuilding (especially involving alien politics, language, culture, etc)

Fandom Specific DNWs/Exceptions

• DNW any of the following canon relationships currently being together during the fic (as a past relationship is fine): Kira/Odo, Julian/Ezri, Seven/Chakotay, B’Elanna/Tom, Kes/Neelix
• DNW major focus on Data’s emotion chip
• DNW any reference to Seven of Nine with the name “Annika Hansen”, unless it’s referring to her specifically as a child before being assimilated
• DNW describing B’Elanna’s personality as being a certain way because she is Klingon (for example, statements like “B’Elanna is angry all the time because she is Klingon”)
• DNW portrayal of the Maquis as entirely unjustified (some moral ambiguity is fine)
• Focus on Kasidy Yates’ canon pregnancy in DS9 season 7 is fine as long as there isn’t focus on the physical process of giving birth
• Extremely dark endings are fine for stories about Winn Adami
• Anything related to the episode “Rascals” is an exception to my kidfic DNW

 

Deep Space Nine

Sisko: Sisko is such a compelling and complex character. I’d love a character study relating to his complex feelings about Starfleet or his relationship with grief. Any exploration of his childhood or time in Starfleet before Jennifer’s death would be great as well.

Kira: Kira my beloved. I’d love any story delving into her history with the Bajoran resistance or her feelings about her relationship with violence and power, and what it means for her to go from being a resistance fighter to working for the government.

Kasidy: I love Kasidy and always wished she got more development. I’d love any exploration of what her life outside of DS9 might be like – her past, her family, how she became a freighter captain, etc.

Winn: I think Winn is such a fascinating character and would love a character study about what makes her the way she is, maybe delving into her past and her struggle to gain power during and after the occupation.

Kira/Jadzia: I love any kind of friends-to-lovers story with these two, especially if it emphasizes how much they get along with each other and connect despite coming from such different backgrounds and being such different people. Holodeck dates either based on the canon Holodeck programs they’ve done or something new would be fun, and I’d love to see a classic stranded on a planet and huddling for warmth story with them.

Kira/Winn: I’m not expecting a happy love story here. I really enjoy the idea of a toxic relationship between them, whether Winn is unrequitedly obsessed with Kira or they’re actually together. It could be interesting to see Winn try to manipulate Kira for political gain, or to explore Kira’s complicated feelings toward Winn as the leader of her religion.

Kira/Cretak: Their canon relationship is so intriguing. It would be interesting to have them start a relationship, all while Cretak has her own agenda and is manipulating Kira. Or maybe an AU where their political goals aren’t opposed and they meet under better circumstances.

Jadzia/Lenara, Ezri/Lenara: I love tragedy for both these ships, but I’d love a happy ending too. Maybe they meet again (with Dax as either Jadzia or Ezri) and things still don’t work out. Or maybe they’re stranded together somewhere and forced to confront everything between them.

Ezri/Ziyal: I think these two should meet! Any sort of Ziyal lives AU is always good, or maybe they meet before Ezri is joined with Dax. I’d love to see them falling in love or maybe bonding over how messy their family situations are.

Sisko/Kasidy: Their canon relationship is so good. Any type of missing scene story for them would be amazing, and I’d love to see either of them meeting each other’s families. I’d also love an angstier story where they struggle with what Sisko being the emissary means for their relationship.

Jake/Ziyal: They should have met! A friends-to-lovers story would be great for them, or maybe a secret relationship where they don’t want either of their dads to know they’re together. I’d also love to see them combining their artistic talents in some way – maybe working on a project that involves both writing and painting.

Jake/Nog, Jake & Nog: Their relationship is wonderful whether it’s platonic, romantic, or some nebulous third thing neither of them knows how to define. Any stories about their time as roommates would be loved, or any humorous stories about the various hijinks they get up to.

Jake/Nog/Ziyal: I think the three of them could have such an interesting dynamic! A lot of what I said for Jake/Ziyal and Jake/Nog could apply here too. Adding Ziyal into the story of In the Cards or any of Jake and Nog’s other canon plotlines would also be a lot of fun.

Sisko & Jake: The father and son dynamic of all time. I’d love any stories about the two of them before DS9, either when Jake was a little kid, or dealing with their grief after Jennifer’s death, or a story about both of their feelings on Jake growing up over the course of DS9.

Sisko & Kira: I love the complex progression of their relationship from antagonistic to awkward to close. Any stage of their dynamic would be very welcome. I’d love to see them bonding over their mutual annoyance at having to deal with some sort of messy diplomatic situation, or a particularly annoying newcomer to DS9. I’d also love to see them in any situation that forces them to confront the complexity of Kira’s feelings about Sisko as a major figure in her religion.

Siso & Jadzia: I love their powerful friendship that lasts across lifetimes. It would be fun to see more exploration of their early-seasons relationship – how do Sisko and Dax get reacquainted with each other now that Dax is Jadzia? It could also be fun to see them in an AU where Jadzia ends up as Sisko’s first officer on a Starfleet ship.

Kira & Ziyal: These two have such an interesting dynamic. I’d love to see Kira teaching Ziyal more about Bajoran culture and taking her to important places on the planet. I’d also love a Ziyal lives AU where Ziyal fully turns against her father and Kira helps her when she struggles emotionally with what that means.

  

Enterprise

Hoshi: I love Hoshi so much! Any exploration of her love of language or of her meeting aliens and learning about them would be welcome. I’m also fascinated by the loneliness and isolation of her character and would love any development of that.

Hoshi/T’Pol: I’d love literally any exploration of their relationship, especially based on their dynamic in season 1 where Hoshi seemed to be the human who understood T’Pol best and T’Pol helped Hoshi with her anxiety. It would be fun to see them on an away mission together, or working together to solve some sort of alien culture-related mystery.

Hoshi & Travis: I always wanted more of them interacting in canon. I’d love to see them being besties, having b-plot type shenanigans, or talking about their lives with each other.

Hoshi & Phlox: Their friendship is so sweet. I’d love to see more of Hoshi learning Phlox’s language, or them having discussions about cultural differences. It would also be fun to see them dealing with incredibly silly hijinks, maybe involving one of Phlox’s animals escaping.

  

The Next Generation

Ro/Guinan: I love their canon dynamic so much! They both have a lot of trauma from their pasts, and I’d love to see exploration of that and how they relate to each other. Or maybe Ro develops feelings for Guinan and believes (incorrectly) that she doesn’t have a chance.

Ro/Deanna: They have so much potential to have an interesting dynamic. I’d equally enjoy a sweet, romantic take on their relationship, or something messier and less well-defined where they have more trouble with each other but are still drawn to each other.

Deanna/Guinan, Deanna & Guinan: I think their relationship could be super interesting as either a platonic or romantic relationship. They have a lot in common with their roles on the ship, so it could be fun to see them relate to each other. They both project such a strong image of emotional stability most of the time, so it could also be interesting to see them struggle with an emotionally challenging situation that threatens that stability.

Data/Geordi, Data & Geordi: I love their relationship as platonic or romantic, or some undefined third thing. Any b-plot shenanigans would be welcome. I’d also be interested in a story that focuses more on Geordi’s POV – how does Data being in his life impact his perception of the world? Data supporting and helping Geordi through something challenging would also be wonderful.

Ro & Geordi: I loved seeing them become friends in The Next Phase. Any alternate takes on that story would be very welcome, or an exploration of how their friendship developed after that. Or maybe Geordi meets Ro again after she’s joined the Maquis – how might he react?

Deanna & Data: I love the contrasts between them and how they’re such close friends anyway. I’d adore any philosophical discussions between the two of them about emotions or humanity or anything else. I’d also love a humorous take on their relationship – maybe them doing a silly Holodeck program together.

 

Voyager

B’Elanna: B’Elanna is one of my all-time favorite characters. I’d love any exploration of her past – her feelings about her family, her feelings toward Starfleet, why she joined the Maquis, etc. I also love the episode “Barge of the Dead” and would love any exploration of the ramifications of the events in that episode.

Seven: Seven my beloved! I’d love to see an exploration of Seven’s changing thoughts on the Borg and on morality over the course of her Voyager arc. Any story where she has to deal with isolation is also very, very welcome.

B’Elanna/Seven: I love their dynamic so much! I’d equally enjoy a sweet take on their relationship where they come to a place of mutual acceptance and understanding, or a messier take where they struggle with each other and yet are drawn together anyway. Any kind of stressful/dramatic situation that forces them to confront their feelings for each other is always welcome.

B’Elanna/Kes, B’Elanna & Kes: I equally love these two as a romantic relationship and as friends. It would be fun to see them doing science experiments together, combining Kes’ biology interest with B’Elanna’s technological knowledge. Maybe they accidentally build some sort of Frankenstein-like creature together and have to deal with the consequences.

Seven/Kes, Seven & Kes: I also equally love these two as romantic and as friends. Any AU where Kes stays on Voyager after Seven comes onboard would be great. I’d love to see these two developing a friendship where they both encourage each other’s weirdness, and Kes defends Seven’s autonomy to the rest of the crew the way she did with the Doctor.

B’Elanna/Seven/Kes: Any of my ideas for the individual pairings would be welcome here too. It would be interesting to see how Kes’s continued presence on Voyager might change B’Elanna and Seven’s dynamic.

B’Elanna & Janeway: I’m very compelled by their dynamic in early seasons, and I love how Janeway sees so much potential in B’Elanna. I’d love any story about the two of them being excited about science together, or racing to solve some kind of complicated urgent problem.

B’Elanna & Harry: Their friendship is so important to me. I’d love to see the two of them supporting each other through stressful situations or solving engineering problems together.

Seven & Naomi: They’re so cute! I’d be really interested in exploration of how Seven relates to a girl who was about the age she was when she was assimilated. I’d also love just seeing them interact and have fun conversations, maybe with Naomi asking Seven the weirdest questions about how the universe works.

Tuvok & Seven: Their dynamic is so fun. I’d love any story about Seven coming to Tuvok for advice about dealing with something she doesn’t understand about humans, or maybe the two of them being forced into some sort of tedious social situation and being mutually grumpy about it.

Tuvok & Kes: I love how much they mean to each other. Canon explored Tuvok helping Kes learn about her telepathic abilities, but it would be interesting to see that expanded on, maybe in an AU where Kes doesn’t leave Voyager. I’d also love to see them going on adventures to alien planets together.

Tuvok & Janeway: I love how much they trust and rely on each other, and the clear weight of the history of their friendship. Any exploration of that history would be wonderful – how they met, previous times they might have served together, etc.

 

Star Trek Crossover

B’Elanna/Kasidy: I think this is a really underrated rarepair. It would be so interesting if they met through the Maquis. Maybe Kasidy’s ship transports B’Elanna somewhere and they have to hide her in Kasidy’s quarters. Maybe B’Elanna doesn’t trust Kasidy at first because she thinks she isn’t truly committed to the Maquis cause, but ends up coming around when she gets to know her.

Janeway/Kasidy: I fell in love with this ship recently and think it has such interesting potential. I think they’d both challenge each other and make a formidable team. I love any sort of AU where Kasidy ends up in the Delta Quadrant with Voyager.

Jadzia/Guinan: The idea of two really long-lived characters who are otherwise very different being together is so interesting to me. There’s a lot of interesting potential if Guinan knew one or more of Dax’s previous hosts. What is it like for Dax to have changed so much and Guinan to have stayed basically the same?

B’Elanna & Data: I’d love to see them interact. We know from canon that B’Elanna’s fascinated by artificial intelligence, and she mentions Data specifically in Prototype. I think she’d be super excited to meet him, and it would be interesting to see them connect over their mutual (though very different) difficulty belonging with humans.

B’Elanna & Geordi: Similarly, I also think B’Elanna could have a really interesting dynamic with Geordi. I’d love to see them having to work on an engineering project together and maybe not really getting each other at first, but then coming to respect and appreciate each other’s talent. Any story where B’Elanna meets both Data and Geordi at once would also be fun.

B’Elanna & Guinan: I think it could be interesting to see them meet in an AU where B’Elanna makes it through Starfleet Academy and ends up an Ensign on the Enterprise. B’Elanna seems like exactly the sort of person Guinan would take under her wing. Alternatively, maybe they meet after Voyager returns from the Delta Quadrant and Guinan helps B’Elanna figure out what she wants to do with her life now.

Seven & Guinan: I think it would be super interesting to see them interact. Guinan has such a complicated history with the Borg, yet Seven is simultaneously the exact kind of loner/outsider she gravitates toward. What sorts of conversations might they have?
